Launch of a new online mental health charity
Stand Down wanted PR assistance to launch their new independent military charity.
Believed to be a ‘first of its kind’ it provides free and confidential online psychological support to active duty personnel and their families, as well as to veterans, who suffer from any mental health condition, directly or indirectly as a result of military combat. This not only allows easy-access in the comfort of one’s home; it removes the stigma of having to report any problems around mental health.
Third Sector PR suggested a prestigious launch in the House of Lords to position the charity as a serious player in the field of mental health and to inform high-level personnel of its existence.
A successful launch took place in February 2016 which has led to interest among Parliamentarians and government officials and follow-up meetings. A personal message of support was sent by Prince Harry. Baroness Howells has become a Patron.
The charity is now gaining awareness as it puts its clinical governance in place for the programme of work it wishes to pursue. It is looking at commissioning research to enhance its online support and at apps which will add to its ability to provide effective online treatment.
